KNWLS: THE NEW ERA OF CHARLOTTE KNOWLES

DENIZ AKKAYA

Hi, the old Charlotte Knowles can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because she’s KNWLS now.

You’ve probably seen Charlotte Knowles’ 90s meets 70s utilitarian mesh leggings, corsets, bodycon tops on Grimes, Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner and a whole lot of other celebrities.

Founded in 2017 by Charlotte Knowles and her partner Alexandre Arsenault, the brand made its debut at the Fashion East AW18 show, and it did not take long for the brand to rise to fame with its collections that are consistently strong and clearly mark the boundaries of the brand identity. Femininity is at the top of the list of things represented by the London-based brand.

The London-based designer draws a new path to the brand with the new logo she presented with the AW21 collection. For AW21, Charlotte Knowles marks a fresh chapter in the evolution of the label, celebrating their most expansive and comprehensive collection to date with the unveiling of KNWLS. The duo, “We felt it was the right moment to take Charlotte Knowles and shorten it to reflect the brand as more than just a singular effort but a larger studio practice.  This brand identity update marks a new chapter for us, and reflects our vision of growing the label into a luxury house in the coming years,” said of the new decision.

The collection ‘FERAL’ celebrates a wild woman behind KNWLS and is accompanied by a short film by director and brand collaborator Armaud Lajeunie with the music of Freeka Tet and Ruby Aldridge.
