WHY YOU SHOULD SIGN UP FOR DUA LIPA’S NEWSLETTER: SERVICE95

DENIZ AKKAYA

Dua Lipa’s long-awaited newsletter, “Service95”, dropped this week and it consisted of a number of curated articles and recommendations from the artist.

After first announcing the free weekly email newsletter back in November, the “Levitating” singer has now launched Service 95’s very first issue. Each week, Service 95 will bring subscribers “brilliant articles by incredible writers I admire from all over the world,” Lipa writes. “I’ll also share personal recommendations and discoveries (this long-time habit of creating lists and sharing them with loved ones is what inspired Service95 — just call me your cultural concierge). So, with that in mind […] here are some of my favourite London food haunts.”

The singer went on to share her top five London restaurants, and the list does not disappoint. Kicking off with Westerns Laundry, North London’s famed seafood restaurant, the list also included the likes of Indian restaurant Gymkhana; Ottolenghi’s Fitzrovia location, Rovi; and Persian restaurant Berenjak; followed by Lore of the Land, a cosy West End pub serving seasonal sharing plates.

Sent out to subscribers on Thursday morning, the free newsletter’s first edition is impressively chock-full of stuff, including a primer on Amapiano, a new subgenre of House music emerging from South Africa; a feature on Irish writer and disability advocate Sinead Burke, who’s work on making design more accessible for diverse folks was recently featured on the Gucci podcast; a feature on an all-female roller derby crew based in Hong Kong and a section on a Paris-based homeware store.

With Service95, Lipa will be able to amplify her status as a trendsetter, crossing the boundaries of fashion and beauty, and use her life as a globetrotter for example to give advice on how to organize the perfect trip around the world, sharing the addresses of the restaurant where to taste the best ravioli in the 11th Arrondissement of Paris, the stroopwafels in Amsterdam or which is the cult sandwich shop in London’s West End.

The project will also include a podcast called At Your Service that will offer “deep, thoughtful conversations between Dua and a lineup of high-profile guests – many of whom you won’t find on just any podcast.” It’s expected that Dua, in her new role as interviewer, will tell us the behind-the-scenes stories of the music business.
