YEE-HAW! IT’S COWGIRL SUMMER!

Forget flip-flops, it’s time to bring our cowboy boots to the beach!

After almost 2 years spent in sweatpants and slippers, fun fashion trends started to revive with the return to normal. Cowboy boots are here to take crochet’s place! As the weather warms up, we can’t escape the country-inspired summer styles of celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa.

Ralph Lauren first brought cowboy boots to the runway in 1979, making them trendy and supplementing the runway with Wild West accessories like jeans and cowboy hats. And after fashion icon Princess Diana got photographed wearing pants tucked into cowboy boots, hese pieces began to mark their ground in fashion history. Alongside Lil Nas X and Mitski’s 2018 album Be the Cowboy’s hyper-famous single “Old Town Road”, the new American cowboy became associated with an inclusive Western aesthetic. This has made cowboy boots universally adopted by everyone from A$AP Rocky to Gigi Hadid! Cowboy boots, which you can now find in every color, print and material, reflect our liberation in the new normal.

Other rodeo-inspired pieces, such as cowboy hats and bolo ties, are also on track to be trending. But the most momentum now, of course, is in cowboy boots. This rodeo summer trend could also be a little trailer for what’s to come from designers in the fall. Louis Vuitton, Celine and Acne Studios have included cowboy boots in their new collections, while Isabel Marant and Etro’s collections this season have seen a lot of Wild West elements.
