RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE SEASON 13 DETAILS

DENIZ AKKAYA

VH1 announced on Wednesday that Rupaul’s Drag Race will be back with its 13th season in January! RPD comes with a brand new cast that features the show’s first trans man contestant.

The 13th season of Drag Race was shot last summer under very strict COVID-19 measures. “Competing safely and fiercely, our 13 queens proved that it takes more than a global pandemic to keep a good queen down,” said host and executive producer RuPaul in a statement.

Here are the extraordinarily talented queens of season 13:

Denali: a Chicago queen, who is a professional figure skater, combines the art of drag with her talent for figure skating.

Elliott with 2 Ts: Elliott, a Las Vegas Queen, is a showgirl with an 80s aesthetic!

Gottmik: the Los Angeles-based makeup artist will become the first trans male to compete in RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Joey Jay: Joey Phoenix from Arizona is also a dancer like Elliott.  Can’t wait for the lip-sync battle of these two queens.

Kahmora Hall: Drag sister of the season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall and drag mother of season 11 contestant Soju, Kahmora is apparently no stranger to Drag Race.

Kandy Muse: Kandy Muse is a New York queen, who is the child of Aja, one of Drag Race’s most recognizable queens. Another queen who’s no stranger to Drag Race!

LaLa Ri: LaLa Ri, one of the two Atlanta queens this season, is the first contestant to compete against her drag mother in the competition.

Olivia Lux: another New York queen, with a good musical and theater education, this queen has starred in many musicals.

Rosé: Another New York City queen Rosé performs in a girl group called Stephanie’s Child with season 12 contestant Jan.

Symone: although he currently lives in Los Angeles, Symone is the first Drag Race contestant who is originally from Arkansas.

Tamisha Iman: LaLa Ri’s drag mother, experienced queen Tamisha, who has competed in drag competitions since the late 1990s, has her own drag dynasty and makes all her clothes from scratch.

Tina Burner: the queen from New York won the National Miss Comedy Queen award in 2019.

Utica Queen: Utica Queen of Minneapolis describes herself as a designer and designs all her clothes herself.
