HUGO COMTE’S FIRST RETROSPECTIVE PHOTO-BOOK

DENIZ AKKAYA

A celebration of the photographer’s work, the book consists of famous names such as Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner.

Hugo, the creator of Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia album cover, released his first photo book with art director David McKelvey. Revealing an archive of Comte’s work over the years, the retrospective book includes never-before-seen photos of names such as Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk, Vittoria Ceretti and Adut Akech.

“I wanted to create an object that was a symbol of my first three years of work, ” said Comte, who began to work more closely with the worlds of architecture, music and design. “I began to feel that people had created a kind of identity around me since then. Having all these different perspectives made me realize that my work has one identity and message.”

The book celebrates the women who inspired Comte throughout his career, not only as subjects but also as muses of his ongoing vision. The book, which spans 200 pages and measures 24.5 x 31 cm, is limited to 2,500 copies, the first 50 of which are personally signed by Comte.

Comte, who did not name his book, wanted his work to speak for itself. Comte’s self-published book celebrates the first five years of his photography career. The book is available for sale on HugoComte.com
