As the seasons change, so does our skincare routines…

It is time to move on from oils and thick creams, which are your saviors in cold weather, with the increasing humidity and temperature in the summer months. If you don’t moisturize your skin regularly, forget about glowing skin. To create your ideal skin care routine, you can take a look at our series on creating the ideal skincare routine for dry, combination and oily skin.

Finding the right moisturizer for your skin plays an important role in stabilizing your routine. However, this year, our skin is faced with an extra challenge compared to previous years.  The pandemic brought multiple skin problems -in addition to turning our lives upside down- along with it. In addition to the stress and distress of staying at home for the last year, wearing a mask has also negatively affected our skin.

Last summer a lot of people dealt with breakouts around the mouth area due to wearing a mask, which the internet calls ‘maskne’. To fight maskne, you should turn to products that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, two miraculous ingredients that will help you get rid of excess sebum.

As we all know, consistency in your skincare routine is the most important step in achieving healthy skin. Also using masks made of organic cotton fabrics is a good idea to prevent breakouts around the chin area. Fabric masks don’t tend to cause irritation or breakouts, since they are made of breathable fabrics. In addition, it is important to use a clean mask every day – wash after each use if you are using a fabric mask – to remove accumulated dirt, sweat or bacteria.

Dull, lifeless skin that lacks radiance is a common problem after the cold winter months. During summer months, you can try lactic or glycolic acid exfoliants as the fastest and easiest way to instantly brighten the skin. Just be sure not to use exfoliating toners and retinol at the same time, use these products alternately. To find out which ingredients you should use together and which you should not use together, you can check out our ingredients article.

With the arrival of the summer months, it will be a good step in your skin routine to turn to lighter combinations, especially moisturizers in gel form. Pairing your gel moisturizer with a moisturizing serum, sunscreen and antioxidant serums like hyaluronic acid or glycerin instead of oils may be the best thing to do for your skin in the summer.

Antioxidants are known to help protect your skin from free radical’s damage and other environmental factors. It is especially useful in the summer months when the skin is more exposed to UV rays. Vitamin C is also a good option to look for in a serum or cream as it protects your skin and acts as a treatment for dark spots that worsen during summer.

Protecting your skin and preventing wrinkles is just as important as maintaining its glow. After all, summer is the time when the sun does the most damage to your skin. Know that the more time you spend in the sun, the more likely you are to get wrinkles. Therefore, it is essential to use a strong sunscreen to help prevent blemishes and aging.
